New York City newsboys go on strike, refusing to sell the New York Journal and the New York World. Not allowed to return unsold papers (which they had to buy up front), newsboys—who were desperately poor and often homeless—typically earned around 30 cents a day and worked late into the night. The strike ended after two weeks when the companies agreed to start buying back unsold papers.

(libcom.org) The 1934 Minneapolis Teamster Strike

THE 1934 MINNEAPOLIS TRUCKERS STRIKE On “Bloody Friday”, July 20,1934,at 3rd and 6th, 67 striking truckdrivers and their supporters were shot by Minneapolis police, acting on orders from the Citizens Alliance, an anti-labor employers’ group, which controlled city government. Seventy-five years later, WE REMEMBER THEIR SACRIFICE!

This weekend Minneapolis returned to an old tradition and celebrated the 1934 general strike in Minneapolis, that brought unionism to Minneapolis. The first day was a music festival in the streets where the fighting took place. Today was a picnic attended by relatives of strikers, and representatives of the UE who took part in the Republic Windows occupation in Chicago. No known 1934 strikers are living.

Teamsters got their name from starting out organizing drivers of teams of horses. There was less time between the 1934 stike and the Civil War, than the strike and today.

(anarchistnews.org) Server Seizure, April 2012: April 18th, 2012, Riseup had a server seized by the US Federal Authorities. This is our press release.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FBI seizes server providing anonymous remailer and many other services from colocation facility.

Attack on Anonymous Speech

On Wednesday, April 18, at approximately 16:00 Eastern Time, U.S. Federal authorities removed a server from a colocation facility shared by Riseup Networks and May First/People Link in New York City. The seized server was operated by the European Counter Network (“ECN”), the oldest independent internet service provider in Europe, who, among many other things, provided an anonymous remailer service, Mixmaster, that was the target of an FBI investigation into the bomb threats against the University of Pittsburgh.

“The company running the facility has confirmed that the server was removed in conjunction with a search warrant issued by the FBI,” said May First/People Link director Jamie McClelland. “The server seizure is not only an attack against us, but an attack against all users of the Internet who depend on anonymous communication.” Read More

(athens.indymedia.org) Today a 77 year old retired man committed suicide in Syntagma square, Greece. He left a letter before he shot himself. Bellow is the link with the picture and a rough translation of the letter.

The Tsolakoglou* occupation government literally nullified my ability to survive with a decent pension, which I had to pay (without government aid) for 35 years.

Since I am of an age that prevents me from giving a substantial response (without of course ruling out the possibility of following a kalashnikov-wielding Greek), I cannot find any choice other than a dignified end, before I would have to resort to rooting through the garbage for my nutritional needs.

I believe that the youth without a future will one day take up arms and hang the national traitors upside down at the syntagma square, as the Italians did in 1945 with Mussolini (Piazzale Loreto of Milan)

[*Georgios Tsolakoglou was a Greek military officer who became the first Prime Minister of the Greek collaborationist government during the Axis Occupation in 1941-1942.]

(OccupyMSM) Stratfor.com, the intelligence think thank website, is down after being “hacked by an unauthorized party” according to an e-mail sent by the website to its members. Many media outlets have reported that the group behind the hacking was Anonymous. However, Anonymous have just released an “Emergency Christmas Press Release” denying the news and stating that they do not attack media sources.

Emergency Christmas Anonymous Press Release

THE STRATFOR HACK IS NOT THE WORK OF ANONYMOUS

Stratfor is an open source intelligence agency, publishing daily reports on data collected from the open internet. Hackers claiming to be Anonymous have distorted this truth in order to further their hidden agenda, and some Anons have taken the bait.

The leaked client list represents subscribers to a daily publication which is the primary service of Stratfor. Stratfor analysts are widely considered to be extremely unbiased. Anonymous does not attack media sources. In this excerpt from Time, there is a brief description of how Stratfor analysts uncovered a possible US backed coup in Iraq preceding the US invasion.

“In the past month Stratfor has drawn attention to a carefully assembled open-source report that asserted that last month’s attack on Iraq wasn’t intended just to punish Saddam Hussein for blowing off U.N. weapons inspectors. By sorting through thousands of pieces of publicly available data–from Middle East newspapers to Iraqi-dissident news–Stratfor analysts developed a theory that the attacks were actually designed to mask a failed U.S.-backed coup. In two striking, contrarian intelligence briefs released on the Internet on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, Stratfor argued that Saddam’s lightning restructuring of the Iraqi military, followed by executions of the army’s Third Corps commanders, was evidence that the coup had been suppressed. Predictably, U.S. officials said the report was wrong.”

Stratfor has been purposefully misrepresented by these so-called Anons and portrayed in false light as a company which engages in activity similar to HBGary. Sabu and his crew are nothing more than opportunistic attention whores who are possibly agent provocateurs. As a media source, Stratfor’s work is protected by the freedom of press, a principle which Anonymous values greatly.

This hack is most definitely not the work of Anonymous.
